MTC Motorsport Mini Cooper S R56 R57 1.6T Front Mount Intercooler with Bar and Plate Core 2007-2012 & Stainless Steel Decat Downpipe
We have tested our newly designed intercooler on a few vehicles and found they have absolutely fantastic results. The IAT compared to the standard intercooler are reduced massively which means you get consistent increased performance.
At the other side of the intercooler into the engine the standard intercooler temperatures were around 55 degrees whereas the MTC intercooler temperatures were between 15-18 degrees over all 3, 4th gear pulls on the road with 8 degree outside temperature.
We also recommend purchasing a Lambda Sensor Spacer(s) to prevent the engine light coming on in most cases. If you search our other items you will find these.
Both products come with a lifetime warranty.
Both products are very easy to fit as they are direct replacements.
There are also some great videos on YouTube to follow. Fitting should take around 1-2 hours. There is no drilling required although it may require some trimming of the lower grill on some models to fit the intercooler.

As any Cooper S or JCW owner will know, heat soak from the turbo and flat spots is common and so is the car running at high temps…
I decided to conduct preventative maintenance and ensure my vehicle can cool down efficiently, after some research I was leaning towards a £600/700 intercooler, then came across MTC. My mechanic was highly impressed with the welding and robust construction and even more impressed with the cost. It’s simply a no brainer - keep an inferior OEM intercooler or invest a small amount of money and get the Don of intercoolers for your R56. Fitment is perfect, no requirement to cut or Jerry rig the intercooler.
